I lived in Brea, CA in 1992. I just so happened to live in the same apartment complex as Maren and her father. One day, I was at the apartment complex pool watching my son, Eric swim. I noticed a fully dressed man by the pool reading a book. It was hot. I thought that is was odd that he was fully dressed by a swimming pool in Southern California. (Who does that?!) Anyway, he was reading away, and I asked him what he was reading. I can't recall what he said, but we struck up a conversation about theater, and books, and our kids. Maren was swimming in the pool at the time and then she wanted to go in to eat or something. The rest is history. :-)
